TOS Surgeon in Maryland
 

I have been recently told I need surgery for TOS, can anyone tell me if they have had surgery for TOS in Maryland or who you recommend.

In our Drs & PTs sticky thread we have these listed for
Maryland & there may also be new ones in the area as the list is a few years old.

Which type of TOS do you have, mostly Vascular or Nerve symptoms?

Who did you see for your diagnosis? Dr. Freischlag at Johns Hopkins does many of these surgeries and takes a lot of time during consultations. If you haven't seen her yet, I suggest that you call for an appointment. Her office staff and PA are very good, too.

I have anappointment with her but not until end of November is 1st opening.

Dr. Avraam Karas is who said I needed surgery. He was very quick to say surgery though. Have had symptoms since April.

Did he recommend physical therapy or does he want you to go straight to surgery? What are your symptoms?

Unless you have a situation such as a blood clot, I suggest getting a second or even third opinion. If you feel like you can wait til November see what Dr. F. has to say.

Tried therapy for 2 weeks but the person has never worked with tos, made symptoms worse. My symptoms are loss of feeling in hand and arm. Cold hand, and now arm feels very heavy.

since you have a few months to wait - I'd ask around and try to find an advanced /expert PT that will really be able to evaluate your sx and make a plan for you & that will be open to making changes as needed depending on how you respond to PT.

Oh , do you have any idea of what might have triggered your TOS?

car accident/ fall/ other injury or sport injury?
Desk work/ repetitive or static forward arms & head postures?
