My redneck neighbors are at it again.

Its a fireworks parade each and every night. Last night was a full on explosion festival. This morning while out on my walk I asked what the deal was, from another neighbor who seemed put out or upset. He explained that the fireworks folks have company from florida, and were doing a fire work show for their guests, BUT they discovered a nest of baby skunks living under their porch. They called the wildlife rescue folks who wanted to charge them $200 for the removal and care of the babies till they could be released into the wild. (these folks claim to be millionaires) they told the rescue folks where they could stick their rehab, and allowed the kids to take turns throwing M80s! into the hole till the babies were dead. I AM FURIOUS! These are not posionous animals. They are babies and harmless, and if you are going to go so far as to call a rescue, why not USE THEM! I would have paid the money. Any one on this street would have paid the money.

DH is FURIOUS! he is friends with the cheif of police and is going down this morning to have a little chat. Also the rescue agency is run by one of our town selectmen. I hope they hang this JAss from the highest pole, with an old rope!

Dej, that is just disgusting! I hope your dh has some success with the police. It's hard to believe that some people so heartless and are probably teaching their kids to be the same way .

Koala77 07-19-2011 08:12 AM

That is just awful Dej. :(

Can you call the animal people? I don't know the name of the animal groups where you are, but here we can call the RSPCA (Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and they would do a full investigation of the complaint and take action against the peple who did this terrible thing.

Surely there must be something that can be done to prevent something simialr happening again.

Really, how cruel these people are!! This level of cruelty and causing suffering of animals, indicates to me a degree of sociopathy/psychopathy. If this is the case, I would for this time ignore...they can easily turn to you for their pleasure next.

Cruelty to animals is accompanied by fire setting, and no remorse, as well in sociopathy.

Sometimes it is prudent to not interfere. You could easily become the next target when they are bored or angry! Please consider this risk. These people do not sound normal at all to me.

Here in GA animal cruelty is a felony. I hope the police Chief at least pays them a visit....there could be other "stuff" there that's also illegal. I'm just dumbfounded at the things some people do. Those poor little skunks. :(

Like mrsD Said, though, be careful. People like his lave no conscious and if they'd do that to a baby animal just think what they'd do to another person. They're sick.

kicker 07-19-2011 09:29 AM

As well of being outrageously cruel to animals, what are they doing to their children!!!???? I'd call social service! Post their name and adress and let them know we're coming to get them. :D:confused::rolleyes::eek: Let them worry a little. I'm no millionaire but I can afford a trip to your state. I got a GPS.

It is now in the hands of the police, the welfare officer in town, the animal control officer, and the humane society. They had no permit for fireworks, that is count #1. They had NO permit for chopping down the trees against the water line so DEP is now involved. They notified an animal rescue group so they turned themselves in. The animal rescue group showed up to collect the babies this morning, and found the mess in the yard, they dragged the babies out...I wont go into details. Suffice it to say the word "felony" has been bantered about. He will also be hit with MASSIVE fines from the DEP for cutting those trees and the police issued him a huge fine and court date for the illegal discharge of fire works. The welfare officer in town has reccomended a full investigation, but amazingly enough all the grandkids went back to the state they came from. Welfare officer is calling their home states to follow up.

now, let me tell you. DH is a hunter. I grew up living off the land, but what those folks did is plain out mental. It is a clear sign of mental instability when someone will harm baby animals esp when there were interventions in place. Money doesnt buy manners is all I can say, and he better start getting out some of that money, cause this one is gonna cost him.

He was DROPPED from the lake assc which he is so proud of. He was dropped from the neighborhood watch, which he thought himself to be the captain of. His boat has been LOCKED at the dock till DEP can investigate the water line, and so on. This one is gonna hit him right in the pocket book. I hope its enough to make this redneck move. IDIOT!

Thank goodness the authorities got involved. If they have children in their household I cringe to think what kind of adults they will grow up to be. Some folks just should not reproduce.

kicker 07-19-2011 10:14 AM

Dej,
You took action. These people are sociopaths and uncaring. I doubt these idiots have any sense of wrong from right.

I would be tossing M80s into their house while they sleep to see how they like it. I don't know about where you are but fireworks are only allowed about 5 days of the year here in Virginia. I hope they teach this moron a lesson. Amazing he didn't want to cough up $200 to move the animals. I wonder how much the charges are going to cost him now. Keep us posted. I would love to be a fly on the wall for that cruelty charge.
