Need name of specific illness

I didn't know where to put this so I'm putting it here.

I have a challenge for you all.

My friend has a tenant who told her they cannot have any air conditioners or fans in their apartment because they have some kind of illness.

The landlord did not get the name of the illness. She asked me "what kind of a condition is it that a person can't have air conditioning or a fan?"

I looked at her and said "I have absolutely no idea, but it sounds fishy because right now in NYC it's over 100 and a person can have an illness where they CAN'T have any air conditioning or fans???"

Absolutely makes no sense.

I think she also mentioned that the guy told her it's related to breathing.

Which is even more suspicious because any breathing problem NEEDS to have air conditioning or fans right?

So if any of you have a clue as to what this is (or if you think this is fishy), and this is just for me, I'm not telling anyone anything.

I just want to know if such a condition exists.

And the person who has this condition looks perfectly fine. So it's not apparent.

Thanks much

Mel

People with RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) typically cannot stand cold in any form... air, fans etc.

Some people with Raynaud's also have problems.

There are probably other things too, but I just can't think of any... it is soooo terribly hot here, I can't imagine!

Oh My God, I never knew. Glad I asked this question.

Thanks much

Here in NY, it reached 104 and in NJ it reached 108 and 114 in Central Park and right now, it's almost 7 p.m and it's 94. I have NEVER seen a heatwave like this in my whole life. And it's only July

good Lord

I won't be having any more information because no one really talks to the tenant. He keeps to himself. If I DO hear anything more about this condition, I'll update here.

Thanks much

I thought of another thing too... based on how I am reacting to this terrible heat wave.

I can move better, and feel better in many ways. STRANGE?

There is a condition we discuss on PN sometimes called cryoglobulemia. This is where peptides of antibodies are overproduced in the bone marrow and come into the blood and thicken it. When it thickens, the blood stops moving well and extremities get cold and suffer. When it is hot, they dissolve and the blood flows more normally.

But I don't think a fan or A/C would be like winter is for this condition. But I am going to get tested for it when I get back.

It is a possibility for your original question however.

I also can move better, I can do things I need to do because it's like a sauna in NYC. Everybody outside is croaking and I can do stuff. I always figure it's because I have degenerative joint disease and can't stand the cold, but my body LOVES the heat.

Who cares, when I can move.... I MOVE!!!

lol
