My journey with The Waltons has ended

I started just by chance, flipping through channels and I found it on Hallmark channel. So I didn't start on season 1. But I watched all the episodes, then got the movies. Now I have been watching season 1 on Hallmark to catch up to where I had started. Well I am now up to where I started. I know I could continue to watch the show but it is 3 hours in the afternoon and it takes up a lot of my time. The last episode was a good one to leave it on. Jim Bob thought he had to rub qway because no one was listening to him. John Boy and father Walton in all their wisdom know how to manage everything when they found him. So now I have to say goodby to them. My DH will enjoy my company in the afternoons again, I can get chores done better. Maybe I'll start hem again when my brain forgets I have seen the series. Oh, the movie collection did not include the original movie.

The original movie starred Patricia Neal as the Mother, I believe and it was excellent.

I remember that one! I liked Michael Learned better as the mother for some reason.

This is one reason why I wasn't interested to see the movie. I love each and every one of the characters. I didn't like it at all when the cast some one else as John Boy in one of the seasons. I know there were a couple of cast changes form the original movie to the series. You got to know them not as actors but as a family. It just wouldn't seem right to see some one else in that role.

I remember that one too. But, didn't she die in the movie? I can't remember or maybe that was another movie with Patricia Neal.

The Waltons was one of the few shows that we were allowed to watch. I have great memories of watching the shows with all my brothers and sisters.

Glad you finished the series and will be getting back to your DH, chores, etc.:D

The nice thing about The Waltons, you can sit and visit with the show at anytime and still not feel too lost if you miss episodes.

I no longer have cable, so I have missed it the last few months. My library has the entire series and the movies.. so it might be a winter thing for me.;)

Here is the original movie from which the Walton's series spun.

Thanks for the link Sally. I may never watch it now!!!!! I just can't see those adults as their parents! That is just not John and Olivia Walton. It's like when my kids were young and they just couldn't understand why they saw one actor in one show and then another. What was so and so doing in that show?
