What kind of car do you drive that helps your conditions
 

Hi guys,

I'm considering changing my car, i've no idea yet when it will be as I have to get some money together but I'm wondering what kind car do you drive that helps your condition. I'm aware that cars in Europe are different to cars in the US, we like to drive manual cars and our American friends like automatic transmissions but i've definitely decided that it's an automatic i'd like to go with. My left leg is the problem leg so clutching in traffic is something I find difficult.
I currenty have a 1.6L diesel Volvo S40 and I absolutely love it, i'd be sorry to see it go but i'm like an old woman of 90 trying to get in and out of it, it's too low for me. It has heated front leather seats, air con, cruise control so my leg can have a rest.

I'd love to hear your advice, what works for you, what didn't work for you when you thought it might.

No doubt about it for ease of entry regarding those of us who are fused, have nerve problems and such. Comfortable. A pig on fuel. We have two of them. Would you like one?

What's you're other car as a matter of interest, I bet you need something that can handle the bad weather you get in Colorado.

I have a KIA sportage and a chevy Trailblazer. both are auto trannies (left leg + clutch makes mamma cry for days). Seats on both have multiple adjustments for the seat and back. Therefore I can adjust and readjust. I do not recommend heavy duty pickups 3/4 ton or more, they tend to ride very rough.

All Four Wheel Drive

ALL of our cars are four wheel drive and purposely so due to the often wintry snowy weather we do receive. One time a few years back from a single snowfall we had four feet standing on our deck. Even a four wheel drive goes nowhere when that occurs. On the other hand when moderate amounts of slippery stuff is encountered, we do receive the assurance of sure and certain footing as others slip and slide. Then the challenge is to stay unharmed by the foolishness of other drivers.

4 wheel drives
 

Hi guys,

Thanks for replying to my thread, we've had some very bad winters the last few years and when it snows in Ireland everything stops because we are not prepared or used to such weather. Last winter we had a very heavy snowfall and I left work at lunch time, it me over two hours to travel 45min! Front wheel drive, unsuitable tyres and heavy traffic. I think yes 4WD is a good investment.

Toyota Rav4 for me

Yes our weather is unpredictable to say the least. Definitely my Rav4 has given me so much help with my driving or should I say lack of it!!!!!

Got it back in Nov 2010 and it was a Godsend during the bad snow we had. It's also a 4wd. Automatic ( because yes this mama also has trouble with her left leg and can't sit for too long) so the automatic is great for me. It also has cruise control so I only have to 'be there' just in case:D. Everything else is on auto......brilliant!!! I did have a Peugeot 307CC convertible all black leather interior and seats and it was a dream but unfortunately with my back it was too low down for me plus it was a manual. I do miss her but can do so much more driving since I got my Rav:winky:
