Hyperhidrosis
 

Hyperhidrosis - Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition in which a person sweats excessively and unpredictably. People with hyperhidrosis may sweat even when the temperature is cool or when they are at rest.

Before I run to the Internist or Dermatologist, since I know sweating is associated with PD. Anyone have this problem to this degree? If so, what has helped...anything?

Getting quite personal here...one of those "we don't talk about it" topics...well, I am talking about and I am beyond embarrassed to do so.

This is a huge problem for me and has simply gotten worse and worse over the years. Anyone of you who has been with me walking somewhere can attest to my situation.

It is getting to be beyond the two/three paper towels I carry at all times. I am beginning to become embarrassed to go to a store...my shirt looks as though I have been to the gym, and I walk as a very casual pace. And going to the gym looks worse than that!! The stationary bike for 20 minutes and I looked like I have been swimming.

I am not talking about just underarms. I am talking about dripping off my hair (which I have worn very short due to this problem,) soaking the front and back on my shirt and the waist band of my shorts/pants. I have to wear a Poise pad all the time due to sweating so that I don't appear to have had an accident.

More recently despite a thermostat at 73 and a ceiling fan on over my bed, I have begun to wake up in a sweat.

Oh yes, and the best of all. You will find me shoveling snow in 20 degree weather and due to sweating I will take off my coat and shovel in shirtsleeves.

I will profusely sweat when:
sweeping the floor
washing dishes
any simply active task.

Well, after a bit more research, it may be just issues with my diabetes...ugh!!

I have never had diabetes and I can so feel your pain....until the DBS, I also sweated miserably and embarassingly. So much so that I felt compelled to provide an explanation to total strangers as to why, in aroom full of people complaining that the air conditioner was set too low, I was drenched and literally dripping from my hair.

YES. I began to have this problem late last spring and thought it was hormones. My gyn tested the levels which were fine, but upped my hrt anyway (I had a hysterectomy a few years ago). Still sweated profusely. Winter was actually not as bad as in the past, as my body heat was more bearable (than in summer). Spring and warmer temps this year brought it all on; had my thyroid levels checked...could it be that? Nope. Those are fine, too. So I have made an appt w/my mds for a long, overdue follow up.
The only thing that gives me relief is standing in the freezer of the kitchen at work. :(
