Concussion and the thalamus
Very interesting article on concussion and the thalamus. Finally some neuro-imaging that shows what we are experiencing!
Also suggestions for treatment. http://www.wellnessresources.com/hea...tes_take_note/ |
Thanks for posting-
They said 3-6 months for recovery, I believe. If only. Still, need more blueberries- And- In general terms, an optimal healing response includes going through the following phases: 1) going through this initial inflammatory phase, 2) going through a remodeling phase of the injured area, and 3) taking down the scaffolding that was erected during healing and cleaning up the jobsite. Hope we get to 3. |
You will buddy. Eat well, rest well, get your sunlight and a little gentle exercise as and when your body feels up to it. :)

I think the 3-6 months is talking about how long it will take WITH optimal treatment. So if you don't start optimal treatment until 2 months after your injury, you should probably expect to be better in 5-8 months from the injury.
That's how I understood it, anyway. Does anybody know of a nutritional supplement that includes many or all of the substances mentioned in the article? And, yes, eat more blueberries (at least they're yummy!). |
thanks for this article eowyn. it makes sense that the thalamus will be affected in a concussion since it acts as a relay station/master switch of the brain.
no i don't think that there's a supplement that contains all of those mentioned ingredients. personally i don't like multivitamins. i'd rather buy vitamins separately b/c i feel they're absorbed easier individually. |
