Concussion and the thalamus

Very interesting article on concussion and the thalamus. Finally some neuro-imaging that shows what we are experiencing!

Also suggestions for treatment.

Thanks for posting-

They said 3-6 months for recovery, I believe. If only.

Still, need more blueberries-

And-

In general terms, an optimal healing response includes going through the following phases: 1) going through this initial inflammatory phase, 2) going through a remodeling phase of the injured area, and 3) taking down the scaffolding that was erected during healing and cleaning up the jobsite.

Hope we get to 3.

You will buddy. Eat well, rest well, get your sunlight and a little gentle exercise as and when your body feels up to it. :)

I think the 3-6 months is talking about how long it will take WITH optimal treatment. So if you don't start optimal treatment until 2 months after your injury, you should probably expect to be better in 5-8 months from the injury.

That's how I understood it, anyway.

Does anybody know of a nutritional supplement that includes many or all of the substances mentioned in the article?

And, yes, eat more blueberries (at least they're yummy!).

thanks for this article eowyn. it makes sense that the thalamus will be affected in a concussion since it acts as a relay station/master switch of the brain.

no i don't think that there's a supplement that contains all of those mentioned ingredients. personally i don't like multivitamins. i'd rather buy vitamins separately b/c i feel they're absorbed easier individually.
