recent surgery
I recently had surgery and am already glad I did. I am already seeing small imporvements even through the surgical pain. I had a rib resection w/ scalenectomy. A few other things were cleaned up as well that were causing problems. When I wok up I immediately felt relief around my collarbone. It was phenomenal! If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. I'll fill out the post-op questions a little further down my recovery road.

Congrats, glad you're experiencing relief. Here is hoping sustained recovery and no scar tissue complications. Can you talk more about your type of tos, symptoms, and treatment tried before surgery? What pushed you over the edge to consider surgery considering the realistic odds ?
Hope the recovery is smooth and relatively benign. Cheers |
I have bilateral tos with nerve (tingling, pain, numbness) and circulation issues (lose pulse in certain positions, redness, sweling, visible veins). I tried PT several times, made it worse. couldn't work or take care of my daughter, so under the knife i went!

Pixified,
Curious what your pain level was that drove you to the decision? On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, what was it? KY |

Also, what kind of prognosis are they giving for scar tissue or making things worse? When will you know if there are complications? Are you going to do both sides? |
K-pain between 4-8 every day depending on activity. It was more not being able to use arms above shoulders and not being able to pick up and hold my daughter as often as needed that drove me to my decision.
343-I had dopplers that showed reduced flow in veins and arteries. I will be starting PT soon to help minimize chance of scar tissue. I've had other surgeries with little-no scar tissue so I'm hoping my body just doesn't react that way. Not sure yet about both sides. Going to wait to see how I do over the next 4-6 months before considering it. |
Congrats on the improvements! What is "K-Pain"? It's not clicking, and searches here and on google have not enlightened me.

Thanks! I was answering kyoun1e's question and just abbreviated to "k".

Tests showed compression when sitting upright as opposed to lying down (although a CT showed slight compression lying down with arms at sides as well). Arms at 90 degrees and up was worst compression. I saw multiple docs, some were concerned with clotting and some weren't. But none of them said I HAD to have the surgery. They al left it up to me and my symptoms.
