Post Concussion Substance Use

Hello fellow sufferers. I am now 7 Weeks past my minor concussion. I am not a heavy drinker, but a glass of wine at night helps me get to sleep. Do any of you drink small amounts? Let me know your thoughts.

Research suggests that a single serving per day is OK. In fact, the relaxation effect can be beneficial. Intoxication is definitely counter productive.

Okay...thank you. What about sexual activity? I have tried and had no adverse reactions except a little light-headedness which is normal.

I would avoid the alcohol in excess. A touch of red wine would probably be fine.

The sex issue is one I'd love to have. Since I got hit in May, libido has went from through the roof to non-existent. I read something about a hockey player being told not to have sex after a concussion, but I'm not sure I've seen anything concrete on it. If you don't get symptoms from it, I'd say go ahead, it can only help.

Sex is a natural pain reducer, well, orgasims at least, and a glass or two of wine is fine, it helps you sleep more soundly and not wake up in the middle of the night and getting more rest will also reduce pain, that is if pain is an issue for you. I know I numb myself with wine, it works better than any of this junk the neurologist gives me :)
