Months 3-6
Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping the healing process going in the right direction during months 3-6?
I have *gradually* improved a lot over the first three months post-injury. I'm now consistently at about 70% or a bit better and haven't had a real setback in about a month (really happy about this). My main symptoms (headache, tinnitus, sleep issues) have lessened considerably. I'm sleeping a lot better, with less insomnia and anxiety. The tinnitus is still there, but seems to have lessened somewhat and for the most part isn't bothering me a whole lot. However, I still have a persistent headache. While it is relatively mild, it has been keeping me from increasing my activity level, as it seems to kick in when I do too much (well, the truth is that I haven't pushed the envelope much in the last month, as I have been trying to avoid triggering symptoms). I would like to gradually start doing more (longer and more normal-paced walks, adding the occasional errand, eventually going back to work). Does it make sense to do anything different at this point, or is it just more of the same (rest, good nutrition, avoiding stress, light activity that doesn't trigger symptoms, etc)? |
For me personally, months 4-6 I made some huge improvements...I gradually increased activity level, was able to maintain somewhat a typical routine, started wanting to socialize more, etc. However, when I would push myself or overdo it, I knew it immediately!
Now in my 10th month I have a better grasp on where my limits are. What I have found if I listen to my body's needs, I feel I am experiencing continued healing, i.e. getting proper rest, decent nutrition, reducing stress, etc. Hope this helps! :) |
Don't hit your head, or even jar it! That is the road to permanent damage. For me I became so clumsy that I just keep getting them. You'd have to put me in a marshmallow suit all day every day in order for me to avoid them. I got 7 in one year and then a year an a half later got two more. It just won't stop! It's been 2.5 years since the first one and less than a month since the last one. UGH!!!
Therefore I warn, NO SECOND HIT! NO JARRING! Good Luck and God Bless! Margarite |
