Folic acid response

So, I posted about my response to folic acid a while back. My response to it is that it gives me a pretty horrible brain fog and makes me sleepy.

I only thought about the negatives and did not look at the positives. So, I stopped all folic acid intake and replaced it with the natural version which is folinIC acid. I did this for 5 months and my brain fog steadily went away. The problem? My exercise intolerance and stress intolerance came back just as bad as before. I became so weak and anxious I could not sleep, and had stuff like air hunger, a vicious cycle. I most likely have cfs/me btw.

Anyway, to the point, I decided I had to add back in folic acid because I knew it relaxed me (but in a bad way). Well, sure enough, the first day I took 1200mcg folic acid I slept like a baby, and was physically better than I was 3 weeks ago. I feel like I can breathe, and like my body can utilize the air I breathe properly.

So, I looked on google and there is a lot of information how folic acid is good for both brain function and also nervous system function.

So I ask, why is it that it seems folic acid is so great for my nervous system, but so bad for my brain????

My guess is that I have a mitochondrial disease, and shutting down my brain with brain fog just further aids my nervous system to get more of the energy it needs to heal itself. So my brain and thought process energy is sort of put off in favor of nervous system.

Also, I have had 2 big time concussions, and the brain inflammation after taking folic acid that I feel is even worse than the inflammation I felt the days after my concussion! Weird.

I think I want to see a neurologist and discuss this massive reaction to folic acid.

Have you had your blood levels of folate and B-12 checked? It would be my first step.
