Decisions Decisions

After 3 days of fighting the uti and the now confirmed kidney infection and the withdrawals of opiates....

My doc has decided to put me back on the pain meds. He agrees that I should be able to make the choice to come off of them again and I should not have to go through this all over again...BUT...

They cannot tell if the cold sweats and exploding stomach and chills and hysteria are from the withdrawals or if I am having a reaction to the antibiotics or if they simply aren't working and this infection is getting worse... or if the withdrawals from the opiates are making the infection worse because it is making my whole body revolt.

There is, and I quote "entirely too much happening within your body at this time and your body is not able to handle all of this at once". So I am to go back on the pain meds, wait another two days for my body to readjust and see if the antibiotics can kick the infection. If not, then we are in for an even more aggressive form of antibodies and most likely a hospital visit. I have lost 7 pounds since Monday.

And in the meantime, I get to apply to each and every drug company that prescribes my 13 different meds and ask for financial assistance. Now, i have found a loophole in that 4 of them are available as a generic at the local pharmacy at a much cheaper cost. Oh, but for each prescription, I need to not only contact the comapnies and apply for assistance, I need to get each prescribing doctor to sign off on each form and each med.

I have a stack of paperwork sitting here and trying to get through it. Wish me luck.

I'm so sorry you're going through this :(. Opiate withdrawal is no picnic. I decided one day to quit them just because I was being stubborn. It made me a quivering mass of insanity. I didn't taper down, I went cold turkey. My doc prescribes them because I need them to walk without excrutiating pain.

I will NEVER do anything like that again. I'm betting once you get back on your needed pain meds your UTI will be able to respond to the antibiotics. I'll be thinking about you, Legz.

I'm sorry you are in such discomfort, Legzzzy http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...i/acomfort.gif It seems you and Dejibo have something in common... when something goes sideways in your life, it morphs from a 2x4 coming at you to a 6x8 and slams you for all it's worth!

Hopefully getting on an even keel with the opiates will prove to be the reason for the 'strong' bodily reactions and the antibiotic will be able to do it's job.

You will be in my prayers, Legz  and plz keep yourself safe with this storm coming on top of you!!

Man, when it rains it pours. I just had to tell my 7 yr old that her cousin's bff (who she sees at grandma's house every time she goes) died today. It has been an emotional day all the way around. 4 hours at the hospital trying to find out the options for getting the infusion and trying to fix the medicaid fiasco, then I ended up going to home depot to get all the stuff we need for the Hurricane coming through and of course I hurt myself trying to exchange my propane tank. Sheesh.

On the plus side, pizza is on it's way, mom is here and DD has been distracted with books and nail stuff.
