jawbone infection???

Hi Bryanna,
This is my story:

hi,
im 39 white male. i had tongue cancer about over 3 years ago. i had alot of problems in the mouth relating to bad teeth. had many root canals and evern teeth pulled.
When i had surgery for neck disection and base of tongue surgery, i had numbness in the lower right lip and right side of chin and tongue is numb. Things are better now but i tend to slur my speech sometimes because it feels like i have an infection in my gums that affects my tongue too. I have to ask the doctor for antibiotics which always clears it up and im not that numb anymore. What conditon could i have? Why is it that sometimes my tongue and jaw feel numb and other times it doesnt when i take antibiotics. also i never had radiation and everything has been checked by otlarngologist but still cant find answers

thanks.

Jerry

ps i also had an abcess in the neck after surgery near my jaw which contributed to slower recovery. i ve had 2 back molars on my right side removed.
