burning pain in toes
I have been suffering from burning pain in my toes as a result of a nerve injury in my back - at least that is the diagnosis. The burning intensifies when my feet are elevated or I lie down. I have been taking neurontin 300mg 5 times a day and lately it has little effect.
Docter prescribed vicodin to help with pain so I could sleep but it takes a long while to have any effect. I take 10mg of vicodin at bedtime. My doctor now wants to switch to lyreca 100mg 3 times a day. I am supposed to take the neurontin 300mg 4 times aday along with it for a week, then 300 mg 1 time at bed time for a week with the lyrica, then stop the neuronton. Is this really safe and are there other options such as additional surgery that are better than either on. Can this burning be caused by the lowering of blood pressure when I lie down rather than the nerve? |
Hi hagin and welcome to NeuroTalk. I've copied your post over to the New Member Introduction thread so you'll get more responses. Welcome to NeuroTalk.
I'd suggest you try rubbing Biofreeze on your feet. You might find that it blocks the burning sensations for hours. Many of us on the PN forum get more pain when lying down. This might be just because sensation and the sensory nerves were blocked by pressure of walking/standing, and when that is released, you then feel the other sensations. Or it might signal something in your spine. The Biofreeze works really well...it is amazing stuff. Because of its gel base it works better than some other products out there. Now it is available at reasonable prices on Amazon. There are some sellers there offering it for around 7-8 dollars now which is a good deal. Come to our PN forum when you get a chance...there is much to read and learn about there: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html |

I hope you are navigating the forum easily. Mrs. D gave you good info on the BioFreeze. My husband often uses this on his toes. He also uses Lidocaine ointment. Perhaps you could ask your doctor if this would be beneficial to you?? Take care, Melody |
