tacrolimus

Has anyone here gone on tacrolimus?
Starting on Monday

I did. It made my already bad symptoms much worse, and quickly, too. I only lasted a month on it, but it was a looooooooong month. LOL

That being said, I know of 2 people who personally had terrific results with it. The best thing about Prograf is you will know quickly, one way or another, if it will work for you.

Just remember--no using ibuprofen and stay away from grapefruit juice as well. There may be a few other precautions you need to be aware of before starting.

Good luck!

4eyes- does it really affect u that fast? my neuro said maybe 2 months for results. would be awesome if it worked. but, sorry it didn't work for you..

I'm going to Chicago tomorro for the consult w doctor Burt- stem
cell transplant..

hope all goes well.

Yes, I did go "downhill" that fast. Whether it was something that was happening anyway, or the prograf, I am not 100% sure. I just know I was very sick within about 10 days and was off the prograf and back on cellcept by the end of that month and was back to my "regular bad" a few weeks later.

Good luck in Chicago!

4eyes....hm thats crazy...why dont more people try it if it works/doesnt work so quickly? It seems to be more of a last resort drug...I have really never heard of it before my neuro suggesting it a few days ago.

Erin- thanks alot, i hope all goooes smoothly haha im too anxious to sleep!

This drug carries higher risks of serious side effects than Cellcept does: Including cancer. So doctors are going to save it for last if other less harmful drugs could potentially work instead.

Mrs D is right. It's a strong drug. I like Cellcept much better!:)

Yep, my neuro advised me of all the side affects. As of now I am on Tacro, prednisone, and Imuran. Along with IVIG- will be until tacro starts working or we go along with the stem cell. Can you say immunosupresssed?!
