Denied life insurance

I was just denied life insurance because of medical history, specifically tbi. According to them my life expectancy is considerably under average just because of tbi.

Sorry to hear of your denial. It can be quite a shock.

Were you applying for a long term policy such as cash value or 20 year level term? A shorter term policy, say, 5 or 10 year level term may be worth applying for.

Do you have dependents you need to provide for/protect in case of your passing?

You also may need to wait a while longer since your injury before applying again. There are a few critical issues insurance companies look at. Are you receiving ongoing treatment for your TBI? Are you on long term medications for your TBI. Can you still drive?

If you get to a point where you are stable and maintaining your health, you may be able to reapply.

Did the life insurance company give you any specific reasons for the denial?

Might want to get advice from a good lawyer with experience in this area (more $, I know).

I applied for short term term life insurance.

They basically said people with TBI have shorter life expectancy; no other details.

I do drive. Only meds I take are 1/2 muscle relaxer on an as needed basis for the muscle spasms. (Usually a total of 2-3 pills a week.) Have follow up doctor appointments (mostly to keep records up to date for future disability reviews and meds).

I am the only parent in the picture for 4 of my 5 children. (One is a minor and one is unable to support himself at this time.)

Last night I spent 1 1/2 hours with 2 men from Monumental Life Insurance who seem to think I can get it. They took detailed info about how the TBI affects me and that CTscan and MRI were negative.
