indecision over zoloft - due to tooth issue

today i got permission to start Zoloft but i hadn't considered my teeth.

it's not mania i'm worried about. at least for now we are only considering going up to 50mg, and i am still taking plenty of the stupid moodstabilizing junk.

Zoloft causes bruxism but i don't recall at what dosage i start getting that. even mild toothclenching would not be good with this temporary filling i have (and will for some time). they even specified i "chew lightly" on that side.

the clenching might not be a problem at 50mg or less. and i will be starting it at only 25mg anyway. i suppose if i noticed clenching i could just d/c right away. but i'm afraid by the time i notice it it could break the filling. :(

i dunno i just dunno dunno dunno. so for tonight i did not take any. but if it is going to help me i better hurry up and decide. :o:rolleyes:

I'm sorry you have this new worry. I think I would give it a try. See if
you can start at the 2Five mg. And see what happens.

I don't have any real ideas.

do you brux at night when you sleep?
Do you remember?
glad that you have zoloft to take to give you some relief.

hoping that you feel better soon.

yes the clenching would happen at night. i *know* it happens at doses of like, 150mg. at 200mg it is practically intolerable. i just don't remember if i had even a small problem at lower doses, of say 100mg or less.

i would not start higher than 25 anyway. i guess i can start that because it will not happen at that dose. it's when i go up to 50 that it might. so i guess i still have time to decide in between, while building up the level. that makes sense.

but not going to take tonight. it's a weird hour to take it.

thanks guys!

Waves,

Yes. Start at the low dose and notice what is happening.

Good luck with the tooth and with the Zoloft.

yes start at the low dose then try 50mg....is there a mouth guard that you can buy to wear at night?

no worries, starting higher than 25mg was never a consideration for me. last few times it gave headaches initially. i prefer 2 "waves" of very mild headaches than headaches for 10 days straight, and bad enough to medicate for part of that time. especially coz nsaids + SSRIs are a bad combination.

mouthguard - i think one would have to be made for me - very expensive.

i'll ask if the pharmacy has anything general but i doubt it. ppls mouths are so different.

i didn't start yet. this morning i have a migraine starting, with a lot of nausea. :( starting. yuck.

i think i want to take it at bed time. i hope i can sleep tonight i have been a bit thrown off on the sleeping times though. and i want to take it on an empty stomach.

i guess i am resisting it some, mentally. maybe i just don't feel generally sure about it.

Hi, Waves,

Maybe you need a few days to get used to the idea of Zoloft.
