New research shows a record 16,000 humpback whales expected to make southern migration.

IT'S a long way to the Antarctic if you want to stop and roll but the 5000km journey ahead didn't stop this playful humpback during a break on the Sunshine Coast.

Migaloo is back.

He's heading up the New South Wales Coast towards Queensland and the warmer water right now.

The year before last I saw a mum and a baby. This year I hope to catch a glimpse of Migaloo from the headland here. :)

Whale rescued

Amazing short video of the rescue of a young humpback whale that had been beached for a few days. Hopefully he/she will survive. Often they just come back ashore. Fingers crossed for this one. Last week there was another but that whale didn't make it.
