Questions re State (CA) Disability

I am applying for California state disability. If anyone out there who's been though the CA DI system, I'd appreciate any tips you could give me.

Here's my problem. To qualify for state DI You must not have worked for one week before the benefits kick in, and I am still working, though my boss has lightened my workload considerably, so I am not doing my regular work, but I think I can hold out until Dec. 31. I would guess I should not submit the application until then. Should I wait to send my neuro her part to complete in December?

The application also asks for the date disability began. Should those be the same date? I was dx'd in 2007, should I use that date as when disability began, even though I've been working since?

Thanks guys for always being helpful.:winky:

Put the date you were first injured/disabled. It's best to get one app in, and when you are (likely) denied, get an attorney right away. Most take a percentage of the "back pay" you will get, once you are finally granted disability. I've seen Binder and Binder a lot, on patient files. And, it is important to distinguish between SSI and SDI... you may want to ask an attorney which is the best way to go, for your specific needs. Take care, Heather :o
