Welcome, JYEARTA
Hi Jyearta,
Welcome to the board. sorry to hear you are going through this rough patch with emotional outbursts. :welcome_sign: Quote:
Bipolar basics 101...long but really informative a couple of things come to mind. sometimes when seizures are well controlled emotional symptoms appear. this can also happen as a side effect of certain seizure medications - was there a medication change near when this started happening? we are all familiar with emotional problems of one kind or another, and not everyone on the board is bipolar, so feel free to join in. as for being bipolar you would need a full evaluation from a psychiatrist regarding that. your b12, folic acid status and other nutrients should be checked and other possible causes (eg. hypothyroidism) for mood disturbances will need to be ruled out. that includes possible medication side effects. if you don't have a psychiatrist, i'd encourage you to see one about this. it would also help i think to have a counselor to help you cope with these problems, for yourself, and perhaps also for your partner or entire family since all are affected. i hear you are not satisfied with your neurologist and may be looking to change docs. in this area, i'd recommend, if possible, you seek out an epileptologist - that is a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy. depending on where you live it might be more or less easy to find a specialist of this kind. anyway take care, keep reaching out and looking for answers. things can get better. waves |
Hi Jyearta,
Waves, has given you some good thoughts. I too would suggest a epitiologist, but I also know that in many states they are almost impossible to find. My 20 year old has epilepsy, and he takes 3 different medicines, and has a VNS. So I truely understand about meds. I would keep working with the doctor's. I have one son with issues that look like bi-polar but he hasn't been diagnosed, his were severe depression that he was diagnosed with. And the middle one was depression and anxiety. With Issues of headaches. That caused lots of problems. So I can't really tell you. Would be happy to talk to you some more about Epilepsy.:grouphug: Donna:grouphug: |
How are your hormones? are you finished with menopause?
if you like, you could share what meds you are taking... are you taking anything for depression? Celexa is a good antidepressant and useful for anger, anxiety issues. I suggest getting a good psych evaluation. bizi welcome to the forums! |

Welcome, it's really hard for you--I'm sorry.
Hi, Jyearta.
I'm a little older than you (65) & just got diagnosed bipolar 2 yrs ago. I was lucky to be in a psych unit I guess & to have a great mdoc who supported me & got me into a good pdoc for me right out of the hospital. I sure hope these things can fall into place soon for you. I'm so sorry you are having to go through so much now at the outset. I hope your family can hang in and become part of a support system for you. I do beiieve there is a path for everyone. Please hang on until you can get on yours. Just never, never, never give up & don't ever let people give up on you. Call on us for anything, and hugs are always in great supply. (((Jyearta:heartthrob:))) C.G. |
