Akathisia...Does it really just go away?

I have been dx with Akathisia after taking Indocin and having a horrible reaction that had me in the hospital for 4 days. I was unable to walk for 3months and had a studder for a month. It has now been 8 months since this happened and I still have the movement disorder. The drs tell me they dont know why I have it (they swear its not from the drug or the reaction) but that it will just go away on its own. I'm on meds that keep it under control but if I get tired ie...do laundry or play to much w/my kids, the akathisia kicks in. I just want to know if anyone out there has had this and if it really will just go away. Feeling frustrated and alone.

My akathesia isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. But it is part of my Parkinson's disease. This is year 8 for me with PD, and this year the akathesia isn't bad at all. So unfortunately my story is of little help to you. :(

Good luck - Jean

Thank you, it does help. At least I know there might be light at the end of the tunnel. The drs told me it should go away in 6 months , it is now amost 9. It has gotten better but I have been stuck now for 3 months. I'm happy to not be getting worse but would like to get better. Just wish I had more info or knew more people with the disorder.
