Does drinking alcohol cause your sinemet to not work?

Alcohol

Hi MaryFrances,
Not with me, I am a moderate drinker, I have a pint of beer or a glass of wine with my evening meal. If I am home for lunch I generally have a fruit juice rather than alcohol. I tend to go for lunch with friernds rather than dinner, and then I do have one or 2 drinks.
To the best of my knowledge it has no efffect on my meds. On the odd occasion that we hav e a celebration of somekind, then I have more but very rarely more than 3 to 4 drinks. However I have a half of beer or fruit juice if I am driving. Even with 3 to 4 drinks, I don't notice any interference with my Sinemet, and friends have never commented in any way, that I appear to be behaving in any way different.
Hope this helps, but don't go on an all night bender, having 8, saying I said it won't affect you. It will whether you take Sinemet or not
Have a good time!!
Ron

:eek:Husband often has 2 or 3 beers during the day. He notices no difference whether he has them or not. (Don't mix your sinemet with a steroid though; his normally calm hand tremor turned into an uncontrollable one in both hands! The steroid must be wearing off; the tremor is decreasing now.)

Two glasses of red wine, every evening with the meal, everyday for 8 years; I sometimes cut out the wine for a week to see what happens. No difference to the sinemet; feel better and sleep better with the wine.
This may be partly cultural - some cultures, and so some families, have different perceptions about this legal drug. I have seen babies being given diluted wine to put them to sleep (not a great idea) and I have heard bitter elderly saying "Lips that touched wine, never touched mine." (not a great idea).
The great idea is: all things in moderation, including moderation.
