Regular keyboard or laptop keyboard??
If laptop there are ways to clean them - but I'd suggest doing a search for that info and your laptop brand name. Regular keyboard.. Sometime crud falls down between the keys.. turn it upside down and tap on the back, shake it side to side and see what comes out. If a sticky liquid might have gotten in there then a more though cleaning is needed. many of the newer keyboards can be rinsed out but have to get dry before using again. I keep a spare keyboard for those times...and just in case it doesn't help at all. |
Laptop, But Im not sure its a sticky key problem.
It seems to be connected to sometin else. Weird as tat sounds. donna |
did all of the trouble-keys start doing this at the exact same time? or was it gradual, first one, then another...etc. the sometimes they work sometimes they don't suggests something under the keycap preventing it from being pressed properly... something that can move... like a crumb or sand...
did anyone eat crackers, cookies, a sandwich etc.... at the computer recently, or does anyone have a habit of doing that? --------------------------- i'd try compressed air. it comes in a can like WD40 with the skinny straw to spray around the 'offending' keys. you should be able to get it in a store that sells computers, or computer accessories... just ask. many of the keytops snap on and off at least partially also, but i don't recommend you try that unless you can tell what you're doing - the risk is the keytop will never sit back in place properly again. ~ waves ~ |
Yes I do eat close to my computer. But I dont find food around keys.
But will continue lookin. And it came to all keys at once. donna:hug::grouphug: |
There may have been a recent, specific "food incident" then.
a few sprays of crumbs from taking a bite of sandwich, cookies or crackers, closer than usual... as an experiment you can try just gently blowing (purse lips tight to do this) under JUST ONE of the problem keys to see what happens. if it is a crumb, the problem might go away... or show up on an adjacent key instead, either way you get a clue. don't blow on your whole keyboard though. compressed air is best because it does not contain moisture like our breath. Also that nice skinny straw lets you really take aim. ~ waves ~ |
just saw your post to Jacquie...
wait
it's only TWO keys? g and h, right? they are adjacent. look between them. you may just have ONE stupid crumb or somethin in there. ~ waves ~ |
No its more keys,
two next two backspace too, delete, key next too enter, five and six, its a combination up and down board. Donna:hug: |

I am sorry that you are having computer key board problems.
