a question about doctors
 

It seems like from what a lot of you say and from waht it seems like they have all told me all doctors tell us all the same things. a lot of us seem to have the exact same things messed up how can the doctors all say that it does not make sense. like every one of us is the first person that this has happend to.

also. people talk about therapy or rehab but have any of you felt like that stuff messed your head up more than it helped. to me it felt like going to torture every time. could it be that my brain was just not good enuf to be able to handle the rehab then?

It sures seems like it. I made no progress in rehab and the therapist was honest about it. That makes for a good feeling. I could go on and on but I won't. There are some Doc's that go beyond getting the needed daily number for overhead. I feel cheated when going in, you get five minutes of an appointment, then insurance is billed for a 15 minute visit. They like most businesses are oreiented toward profit maximazation. It is unfortunate considering. Of course they do have to deal with insurance but I'm sure they want to make the day as short as possible. Happens a lot. In my somewhat short. time I've seen doc's put their hands up and say I really don't know. Well, if they aren't sure why don't they refer to something else. My best ally has been the vestibular therapist who spent two hours a week for eight weeks with me and saw that I had neurological as well as vestibular issues. In a strange way they was reassuring since I've been trying to relate this for 1 1/2 years. One Doc said I can't understand not being able pass a posturography yet walk into my office. He never saw me out of a chair. His nurse commented each time I made her off balance walking me to the exam room. Go figure!!!!!

By the way, look at many of these post. So many contain so many errors and such it has to have something to do with our conditions. I often get occular migraines just doing this stuff.....Maybe we need to band together and have a peacefull wall street type demonstation....just kidding.

The basic problem with doctors and especially neuro's is there is very little they can do for us. Plus, since there is no definitive diagnostic for concussion, they are limited. They try to maintain the attitude that if they cannot image or otherwise diagnose it, it is not necessarily a real injury. Add to that the many times an insurance company has denied the existence of the concussion just to save claims payouts and we get hit with a double whammy.

It follows the old adage commented by the doctor who cannot identify the cause of a certain pain; "You'll feel better when the pain goes away."

Very few doctors know how to say four simple words; "I do not understand."
