Went to my first brain injury support group today!

Today i went to the San Diego Brain Injury Support Group and I am overwhelmed with joy in finding others who understand what our lives are like (in person of course!). There were a few PCS patients there and the injuries ranged from very disabled to someone like me who you cant see my injury and i look like a normal, healthy 30 year old. Everyone was so positive, so happy to be alive, and so supportive. When i walked in, the guy at the sign in table said "welcome home". Todays group was run by speech language pathologists and talked about organizing your day, your life, and how to find shortcuts. Im so happy i went. Hopefully, there are support groups like this near where you live!

Yay! Good for you. Glad you found somewhere you can go in person and talk about what your going through. Maybe I'll look in to something like that in my area...

Went to my first meeting last month-I will be going again. Seem like a good assortment of people, different acquired TBI, and lots of people with similar experiences. Doesn't make me happy that other people suffered, but made me happy to know I wasn't completely losing my mind.
