Estriol anyone?

Anyone here on Estriol to help symptoms?? Been researching it, and now met someone that takes it. It is a hormone that is produced in a womans body while preggo.. and since many are symptom free or less symptoms when preggo.... holds promise I think!

I found this article from Life Extension. About half way through the article it discusses MS......sounds interesting. I might just have to ask my Neuro about this. If he won't listen then I'll ask my OB/Gyn about it. Thanks!

Hi,
There has been a clinical trial ongoing for Estriol.. but with Copaxone. I really don't know how they can tell which is helpingm or not helping, when they combine two treatment drugs.

I took estriol while on Copaxone for about six months, and ...nothing. maybe it was the dose I was on. I was not part of a clinical trial. I was having massive night sweat, and talked the MD into estriol. Since I have had breast cancer, they were quite cautious about giving it to me. I had such great hope, but alas, in the end I gave it back.

I take it

One of my 1st posts when joining here, possibly THE reason I joined, looking for help getting it back on market. I won't get into the whole drug co. that lied issue, was later found to have lied/made up articles published in journals by ghost writers, yet had fda pull it from compounding pharmacies or they get goods confiscated, i'll just say yes I take it.

I was fired (as patient) from last neuro (#4?) for having fda fax papers to his office directly so he leagally couldn't say no (or so I thought). Was on Copaxone at the time. He was the neuro that actually gave me the article of drug trials. It was 8mg estriol + undisclosed mg's of progesterone.

My dose has been 4mg each but i've been telling neuro progesterone needs to be at least 50mg which I think is lowest dose you can get in a ready made drug which means 50-100mg can't hurt. I'd try it anyway even if it does what the heck i'm progressing on Ty. Ty works let me say very well but it didnt stop progression, infuse #24? next month. I'll never give up the Ty cause I've done so much good exercising since I started, I never want to get off it till something better comes along.

Estriol is sore spot for me and I welcome anyone who tries it. Cost compounded 4mg/4mg in I capsul is $40 for 30 where I live. Go for it. Progesterone I believe is just if not more important.

edit - i've taken estriol/prog for about 12 months.

Thanks Eddie for info... so progesterone... did not read on this... I have been on it before but due to weak starts to pregnancies... so been on it for that... I have miscarried then the next baby when checking I was low on it... and helps before plancenta takes over on producing it... but never thought of it for sxs....

anyhow thanks all, sarah thinking about bringing info to my doctor as I met someone I know that has MS... and she has been on it for months and no other big meds and feels much better sx wise.... and she has same doctor. She did tell me about 40 a month cost... hugsss, sarah

Shortly after my post, I stopped taking it because it's $40/month & i'm losing sensory on daily basis. What a mistake! Within 3 days, my eyesight started seeing more double vision (with 1 eye)! Yes I know my body's production has been lowered by getting it from the outside, but my conclusion is it's very important at least to "my" MS.
Won't be estriol, but if anyone knows mg's of each in birth control, please post it.

Sally,

I think you may be right. $40 a month is alot cheaper than the big bucks it cost for DMD's and other drugs used to combat the sx's of MS. What are the side effects?

The only Sides I had with LDN was stiffness, at first, with the 4.5mg dose. I went down to 3mg and stiffness abated. And Vivid dreams, which I still have, once in awhile.

Some peeps have complained of insomnia in the 1st few months of use, also abated by lowering dose to 3mg. I'm on 4.5mg now with no sides but good ones..:)
