Prednisone

Anyone here been on prednisone since their concussion? My dr has prescribed it to help with horrible sinus and ear problems. I took it years ago (pre pcs) and it made me jittery then. I am very concerned it will interfere with what little quality sleep I already get, among other things, now that pcs is in the picture. Also concerned about the jittery anxiousness that I think could be much worse with pcs :(

Thoughts? I am already on antibiotics but they haven't helped much!!

Thanks!

I did a course of Prednisone for few weeks for my dizziness. No bad reaction or side effects for me but did nothing for my dizziness, headaches, nausea etc., Being said that probably you know any med reacts differently for each individual.

No, but my doctor wanted to try me on it after my latest relapse. I also have had horrible experiences on prednisone so immediately refused because i wasnt sure of the benefit of it to help with my PCS symptoms. I too am very jittery, anxious, makes me feel like im going crazy, headaches, stomach pain, and insomnia. So i completely understand. Its a tough situation you are in because the reason they want to use it is for a different medical problem happening while you are still in your PCS stage. I'd have your doc list pros and cons of treating your sinus problems this way and see if its worth it.

Night nurse...thanks for your insight....he is putting me on a very low dose (1mg twice a day for 5 days) as we did talk about the pros and cons. We decided against the dosing pack for now since it would be a much stronger dose.

Pcslife....sorry it didn't help your dizziness but glad it had no adverse affects otherwise!

I was on it for a severe allergic reation to dilantin (seizure med to hopefully combat headaches) and couldn't wait to get off it. I was on the graduated dose for 10 days I think.

My doctor gave me Prednisone for my migrane headaches. I didn't take it because I know how jittery I get while on it. Not to mention totally grumpy...total pain in the you know what!!!! Has anyone else tried Prednisone for headaches? I have them daily and I am tempted to try it...

Looks like its been a few days since you said your doctor put you on the prednisone....just curious how you are doing with it. Is it exacerbating your symptoms at all? Is the lower dose causing your normal side effects from the last time you took prednisone?

Night nurse....I have finished 3 out of 5 days. It is a very low dose (1mg twice a day) and fortunately I haven't had any side effects. It has helped my sinus and ear stuff some, but I have a feeling if I was on the medrol dose pack my side effects would have been far worse!! Thanks for checking in :)

Hi nolefan

I have had to be on prednisone on and off during my life for alergic reactions. I never have taken it and not had side effects, the worst being jittery and sleepless. I always ask if there isn't something else they can do. The med. reacts to everyone differently of course. I avoid it if I can. I wish you all the best. ginnie

I took it for swelling and was fine. seems most people have trouble with it though.
