What happened was I fell heavily on a wet floor at work. I slipped and my feet flew out from under me. I fell flat on my back. I hit my head on the floor..... vinyl over concrete .... and rattled the walls 2 floors up! I broke my sacrum, the large bone at the base of the spine and was badly concussed. I was hospitalized for a short while but my symptoms continued for around 6 months ....dizziness, nausea, unable to walk unaided and my vision was blurred. I couldn't read or watch TV, I could hardly walk and I could not sit up by myself from a lying position without falling in the opposite direction; all for around 6 months. I have MS and the fall brought on an exacerbation in the form of Optic Neuritis, which compounded my visual disturbance. I don't know what I'd have done if my husband had not been able to take time off to care for me. I slowly recovered without any intervention. To be honest, I didn't know what to do or where to go for help. I could not see well enough to use my computer and my husband didn't know how to, so I simply persevered at home and my symptoms slowly abated. Some times it was really tough for me, and in hindsight, I wish I knew then about TBI support groups. Maybe I would not have had to suffer alone for all those months. |
When you say that your TBI cleared, what do you mean? Is it just that you have no head aches or vision or balance issues anymore?
Did you have any cognitive or memory problems? Have you had a Neuro-Psych Assessment done? Do you ever have relapses? Was your neck injured at all? |
As I said, it cleared. All my symptoms resolved by them selves, without medical intervention. This is why I was reluctant to start a new thread. I did so to answer a query.
After my accident, once my eye sight, dizziness, balance and nausea got back to normal, I had no lingering headaches, no cognitive or memory problems that could not be attributed to MS anyway...remembering that I've have a chronic neurological illness for 35 years... and no other symptoms that I remember. I did not have any evaluations of any kind. I was left to recover alone. I did not break my neck in the fall although it was sore after the accident and I had a soft collar for a while, and no.... I have not had any relapses. |
WOW! I am so happy that everything seems to have resolved on it's own. I am in hopes that one day I'll wake up and I'll be back in my own body again. Being in someone else's sucks!
