Kava Kava

Has anyone tried this for relief?

My acupuncture friend told me about it and I gave it a shot. This may be total coincidence but I've had hardly any symptoms for two weeks. Note: My pain level is low and manageable...maybe a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Anyways, thought I'd throw it out there.

Did you use liquid or pill form? Did you ever get the botox? Are you bilateral ?

Some cautionary info especially if taking other drugs-

[However, there is serious concern that kava may cause liver damage. More than 30 cases of liver damage have been reported in Europe. It's not clear whether kava itself causes liver damage or whether it was taking kava in combination with other drugs or herbs is responsible. It's also not clear whether kava is dangerous at previously recommended doses, or only at higher doses. Some countries have taken kava off the market. It remains available in the United States, but the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a consumer advisory in March of 2002 regarding the "rare" but potential risk of liver failure associated with kava containing products. (See "Precautions" section.)]

Tension, stress and worrying does change your breathing patterns- and you also "hold" a small amount of that tension in your muscles - that keeps the toxins in and inhibits the good flow of fresh blood that helps to clean the toxins out.

It's why learning relaxation techniques & deep proper breathing is so important for us.

I like my theanine.... it is very helpful and no serious side effects.

You have to use at least 200mg a day or 300 perhaps.

Pill form.

No news on the botox front. Right now, I'm in another one of those wonderful periods where I think I'm done with TOS. I've had zero symptoms for two weeks and I've been at a 1 or at most 2 pain level since spring. Could be the kava kava or maybe it's just me taking another step forward due to my stretching program after taking a recent step back.

Right this second, I don't want the botox shot due to lack of symptoms. Of course, this would change asap if that changes...and at that point, I'll get annoyed that after several weeks there's still no word on that.

Wish I could get the same outcome. Have been stretching like crazy and doing self care but hard when I'm aggravating it working at a computer.
