R-lipoic acid must be making a difference
I have been using r-lipoic acid for two months now and ran out of them last week and the difference in my pain levels is unbelievable, it has went from pain level 2 to 7/8 and this is the only difference in my regime:(. I realised I was running out in time and ordered some more from Amazon but they havent delivered. I am going to look for another supplier just now and then i will have double in the cupboard.
In a way I am glad this has happened as the benefit crept up on me ie it wasnt instant so if I had been asked two weeks ago what effect it was having i couldnt have given an accurate answer. |
Yes, I am happy for you that it is working!
With a chronic condition, I think we "get used to" pain, and as it slowly diminishes we may not notice. The supplements work slowly but in many cases do work. When a skip occurs, that is when some people really realize that they are doing well with them. I take 100mg a day of R-lipoic... I tried 200mg recently and it really made me hyper/anxious. But 100mg seems to be a good level for me right now. My feet only burn a little at night sometimes and then only briefly. When the crisis with Oreo started I noticed a huge leap in stress levels, and more burning. But now I am back to my usual occasional nighttime problems. We have a new kitten... he is just a wonderful fellow. See my album and new profile picture. Oreo goes to the vet today, for an evaluation of the steroid treatment. She seems pretty perky still to us. Crossing our fingers! |

Is there a difference between R-lipoic and alpha lipoic acid. I got some alpha lipoic at Walmart. Did I get the wrong stuff? |
Please read this new thread on lipoic acid. And the links it
contains. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread159210.html Yes, there is a difference between alpha lipoic, r-lipoic and r-lipoic stabilized. We discuss all 3. The regular alpha is the least bioavailable and requires high dosing to accomplish what the newer r-lipoic types do. Alpha lipoic has been around for a decade... it typically needs about 600mg a day to work...1/2 of it is inactive. R-lipoic is only the active version. |
