natural muscle relaxants?
Anyone know any of any natural muscle relaxnats thats actually work?
like herbal ones or anything? not a fan of valiums and xanax , that stuff has 2 many side affects |
Did you already try valium and have side effects? I tried it recently and it works fairly well although I don't take it during the day since it makes me too lazy to work. Which is, of course, a side effect.
I've tried Now Foods True Calm which I did find calming, but not much of a muscle relaxer. At least one reviewer did find it useful for that purpose: http://www.amazon.com/Foods-True-Ami...dp/B0006U6IMI/ It's certainly cheap to try. Valerin Natural Relaxant is well reviewed as well and bills itself as relieving muscle cramps and spasms. I haven't tried it yet: http://www.amazon.com/CRAMPS-MUSCLE-...dp/B000AHRW4U/ And then under "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" and the "Related Items" sections you'll find other products. If you find something you like, please let us know. For long term support, consider supplementing with magnesium and D3, and staying hydrated. HTH |
One more thing. If you're having trouble with muscle tension at bed time, I've gotten great results with an iPhone app called "Deep Sleep with Andrew Johnson". It's more of an audio than an app, but as an app there are a couple minor options to play with.
It also works for me if I wake up in the middle of the night. It's your standard "muscle relaxation and calmness suggestions" script, but that Andrew Johnson sure has the right voice and delivery for it. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/deep-...337349999?mt=8 Looks like they have a new one that generates combos. I'll have to try that! http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id460610625?mt=8 There may be versions for other platforms, or a pure audio version. I haven't checked. |

You can also get magnesium in lotion and creams forms.
When blood vessels are constricted, blood does not get in or out of those tissues easily. So magnesium in the blood from oral, may not get everywhere equally. This is where the lotions may help. CVS Epsom lotion Epsom-It Kirkman cream There may be others you can find on a Google search as well. The Kirkman cream has a measured concentration of 100mg/gram and is a bit more expensive because of that. Many autistic families use it for small children for this safety reason. |
