Newbie q's
Hi all,
I'm female, 55 yrs, teacher of adults, and very devoted to family and work. A little over three weeks ago I fainted before going to work. It was quite silly, I had taken à laxative the night before and got à sudden pain in my stomach while making breakfast. I started to feel weak, passed out and hit my head on the floor. My daughter found me snoring loudly and I had wet myself. When I awoke i went to the hospital. I couldn't focus, the walls were moving and switching places w the ceiling. The docs did à ct and EEG which were ok. After there days I went home. Everything was still spinning and bending forward made me almost fall over. Here's to my questions: I don't have headaches, but I am having problems w balance, dizziness, focus and tinnitus ( fuzzy sound).I feel nausea when I exert myself walking slowly. I went to my doc who says i suffer from vestibilar neuritis, not post concussion, but My symptoms came after the fall. What say you? Thankful for any input. I can't work :( |
I've read some of your other posts. I think there is far too little information to give you any worthwhile help. Can you be evaluated by a different doctor?
You are in a chicken or egg conundrum. Which symptom was first? Did you fall because of something else that is presenting as similar to Post Concussion Syndrome? If it is Post Concussion Syndrome, there is not much that can be done. The tinnitus is very common but untreatable. The loss of bladder control sounds like a serious nervous system dysfunction. Did the pain cause you to hold your breath leading to passing out? Too many questions to answer your question online. Hope you can find a doctor who takes a more serious interest in your recent symptoms. |
Disregard old posts
Hi,
Previous posts are misleading, as it turnéd out I had à virus. I had à pain in the stomach due to the laxative (My stomach doesn't like them, which I was stupid enligt to ignore). Then I Passed out. "Did the pain cause you to hold your breath leading to passing out? " No, not that I am aware of. My main concern is that I do not function well cognitively at the moment and I'm concerned about being forced back to work too soon. Docs here are reluctant to put people on sick leave. Too many questions to answer your question online. Hope you can find a doctor who takes a more serious interest in your recent symptoms.[/QUOTE] |
It sounds like you need a full neuro work-up including some cognitive and memory tests such as the MMSE. (Mini Mental Status Exam). A PCP or General Practitioner will not necessarily be up to this task.
