Quote:
I am new to the group. I have never been big. I weigh 118. I want to gain do not like weight so badly!!! I think it would help with my walking also, I cannot wear heels anymore as my legs have no muscle in them. I would like to gain muscle and just feel better. I do not like having MS, but I am thankful I am here!!!! GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!:) |
Hello Carlisa, and welcome to NeuroTalk from another skinny MSer.
I hear you about the weight issue. You've no idea how many times I've heard from people they would like to be as skinny as me. At barely 100 lbs for decades, people would say they were jealous of my small frame, but others have no idea how hard it is to gain a few pounds when you are slight. For some people it's as hard to gain weight as it is for others to lose it. I have put some weight on over the past year or 2, but I don't know what I've done differently.... maybe it's just old age! I'm just sorry that I don't have a magic formula for you. |
Hi Carlisa. I wish I could wrap it up in a nice pkg and send it to or maybe I could will it to you by osmosis(sp).:D
I could send enough for you too, Koala, I have plenty..:D |
I have got PLENTY!!!! If only it were that simple

hello and welcome to NT.
i can ship mine overnight Fed Ex! i think it might be helpful to you to speak to your dr. and/or a RD (registered dietician). your dr can give you a referral. there are specific ways for thin people to gain wt, specific supplements, foods etc. i don't know what they are but i know the info is there. you just need to pick the right brain the same as a heavy person would do to lose wt. let us know how you make out. this will be important because you want to keep as much strength as possible. |
Hello and WELCOME Carlisa!
Sorry to hear of your troubles with not being able to gain weight. I'm there with you, I just keep shedding off weight, even though I try to gain. I don't like being called skinny, and I don't like that I am only 114 lbs. It seems unhealthy to me. My gma always pokes at it too. "Ana, if you lose one more pound you're gonna disappear!" I have been trying my hardest to stack on weight and I can't. I am not sure what it is about MS that will cause us to lose the weight but I know I have MS to blame for it. And I totally know how you feel about your heels. I tried to hang on to mine, hoping I'd be normal one day .... Then I got real with myself and donated them, lol. Have you done any steroid treatments? They had me on prednisone and solu-medral for so long I blew up to about 135 for a couple months. Then I dropped all the weight, pretty much over night, and it continues to drop. If you figure out the key to at least stabilizing weight, lemme know! :D I'm skin and bones... and it's gross. lol again... WELCOME TO NEUROTALK! :D :grouphug: |
Hi carlisa
Glad to find you on neuro talk. I have the opposite trouble. You can have a few of my pounds any time you want.:D I lost a bunch, but I know the opposite can be real difficult too. My cousin dianne is very thin with MS. All I have to do to gain weight is look at a piece of cake, and it's on my hips. Ice cream, boy for me, I could gain 5 pounds a week. Wish there was a happy medium. Welcome to neuro talk. ginnie
