I think it would take some convincing to persuade me to try it for PN. I'd have to be certain that my PN was related to something that the partasites could, and would treat safely and effectively. The fish tapeworm is known causer of PN. It robs the host of B12.
This was on the TV show, House in fact. Also Campylobacter bacteria from poorly cooked chicken causes a motor /sensory PN. There are organisms connected to fish also. I have found kefir very helpful for myself, for correcting my GI issues too. Animal Planet/Discovery had a series on TV called The Monsters Inside Me.... strong stuff... not for everyone! http://animal.discovery.com/tv/monsters-inside-me/ |
Like Mrs. D stated, there are parasites which can cause the PN and/or autoimmune diseases. You can get checked to see if you have offending parasites. They can do stool samples to check. Sometime you need to do two test a few week apart because of their life cycles. Some parasites cause what's called leaky gut which sets you up for autoimmune and allergies because it compromises the lining of the gut. On the flip side, like the article implies, by introducing a parasite, it calms an overactive immune system by giving the immune system a real target. I guess it would be a natural immmuno-suppresant.
I think I would first take the approach of changing your diet and add in some form of probiotic first to see if that helps. |
Our own PD forum has posts about "feces therapy" for people with PD.
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ighlight=feces I'll stick to my daily Kefir! :p |

My problem with tests - and in tests in general here is the quality , although if anything , being private ,you'd think they'd find an excuse to want to charge more. Who knows , though for the record this was only done once not as you suggested with a break , hence why I have so many doubts about tests and any tests here in general. Id rather spend more somewhere with a good record and feel more confident , but the problem with that approach is that id be left paying for treatment anyway . The NHS , you see , wont or pay for treatments even, if diagnosed elsewhere , other than by themselves , so what you effectively have is broken system that not only punishes the more vulnerable but also punished them even if they try to buck it as well. Ive flirted with changing my diet , but my Anosmia can sometimes make that undesirable given my restrictions on taste . Perhaps if I saw some noticeable benefit other than weight , id be more encourage but so far the only benefits Ive noticed , as far a pn related issues goes , is whenever i decided to fast and esp when I intake sodium . The sodium - or Epson salts i use with caster oil and lemon seem to be the one thing that always comes to the rescue whenever i get relapses too . melon |
