Simple Seizures causing lost of control of entire right side of my body

For the last 8 or 9 years I have been having an odd thing happen to me which I've learned to be a form of simple seizure. Many times when I stand up I will suddenly lose control of the entire right side of my body, it tenses up and it takes everything in me to just stand there and wait it out. They normally last like 5-15 seconds. I have no idea what is going on and doctors seem to be stumped as well. Im 25 and fairly healthy, no medical issues with the exception of a fairly minor case of Pectus excavatum. Last night I started feeling dizzy and it hasn't stopped yet, I'm not sure if that's related or not..

Hi JP welcome! I have simple partials and mine makes it so my head turns to the left and my left arms will jerk and tremor, ill also get tingling and numbness with it. Ive now gotten used to "odd" things happening and drs not understand. Have you seen a neuroligist or have gone to an epilepsy center? Hope you get answers soon!

Hi JP,

Welcome to the forum! I have found that using cold water therapy will stop the simple partial sz. Put a cold washcloth on your face and neck 3 times a day or more by doing this you are calming down the neurons in your brain and they won't trigger a sz. If I may ask do you or anyone around you use a cell phone? I found that I was cell phone sensitive and when other people are around me using a cell phone up to 100 ft. away it will trigger sz. for me.

If you haven't seen a Epileptologist got to one a.s.a.p. and be sure you go to an Epilepsy Center which are usually at university hospitals. Try taking vitamin B12 once a day, stay away from nutra sweet because that causes more electrical activity in the brain. I've had epilepsy for 39 yrs. and I have absence (petit mal), complex partial, and simple partial sz. for many yr. I also had 2 brain surgeries done to help reduce my sz. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Nice to meet you!!

JP,

Hello and welcome to NeuroTalk. Happy to see you have come to be with us.

When I had one I would lose my right side just like you. Also if I had something in my right hand someone would have to get it out, because I would hold it tight so I don't drop it. Also if I am writing, I lose control of my right hand, and I am right handed.

Again welcome, looking forward to seeing you around. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Darlene
