Euphoria
In July, when I had cramping under the sternum with extreme faintness and pallor, I would sometimes experience physical euphoria under the sternum when my symptoms subsided. This happened 2 or 3 times. (Btw, umpteen tests at the ER and the cardiologist's showed that my heart was in perfect condition. When I learned about TOS, I started elevating/supporting my left shoulder girdle and the heart cramps went away.)
The physical euphoria hadn't happened again until last night when I experienced it in my ribs on the back side. Lasted around an hour. This morning I had pain at the right sternum where the ribs connect which was disconcerting since my symptoms are usually all on the left. But it subsided and that same physical euphoria has taken its place. I have it right now. My interpretation is that it's a return of circulation and energy into an area that was previously deprived. The only med I'm on is diazepam, but I didn't have that in July and I had not taken it close to the rib euphoria last night. I can tell you that my PT, Joyce Wilkinson, has been working on my ribs a lot and I've been given a lot of exercises/stretches for them. I also started another set of exercises a couple days ago which I'll post about separately. Hopefully this is a sign of recovery and return to health. *crosses fingers* I'm mostly just curious if other people have experienced this sensation at any time under any condition? Descriptive terms would include "physical euphoria", "physical bliss" and "pleasure". Anyone? |
I'm not sure it is the same thing , but I always do feel lighter & freer after any kind of pain or discomfort goes away. A "bliss" feeling I guess is a good word to describe it for me.

The feeling in the right sternum has subsided, but the euphoria has returned to the mid-back. That came after doing a self-therapy session followed by muscle relaxation meditation. I think I deserve this after all pain I've been through. :D |
