How long must I wait?
 

OK, I am sure this info is on the forum somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. How long do people normally wait for a trail SCS? I saw the psychologist over a month ago. Since then, the "team" of doctors has met twice, but my case is "still pending." I currently take nothing for the RSD pain. Nothing really works and what does "work" really just knocks me out. So here I sit. I have no idea what is taking them so long. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

You raise a good question. Seems every case is a bit different. Alot of times it's the insurance carrier who slows things up - waiting for their approval.
The best thing to do at this point would be to touch base (aka 'pester' :D) the doc's office to see how things stand. Remind them that you are sitting here in this pain. Perhaps ask if there is anything you need to do to speed things up. Or simply ask 'What is the holdup!'

Sometimes it takes awhile for the Dr to get you scheduled in. I know this has been a source of frustration for several here. Or they'll change the date for whatever reason.
Since you've had your evaluation, things should be moving along.

I hope you get some answers soon. RSD is a nasty thing to have to battle, so I sure hope they can get this going for you SOON.

If your moniker is indicative of the things you do, that does sound fun, having puppies around......

OK, I digress.... Sorry, Rae will slap me or something. Anyway, from the moment my wife and I sat in the physiatrist's office after reviewing the DVD and literature saying "Yes, we would like to proceed to get this for Mark." Everything came to a screeching halt....... for oh, about three months, then the psych eval. That went well. Psych doc was glad to see I had been striving hard to resume my profession, and there was no real hold up there. About a month after the Psych doc I was in the OR for the Trial surgery. Yeah, I know it is LONG, but the thread was intended to chronicle beginning to TADA!

So, despite the pain being terribly awful, please know we will offer prayers here where pain is so hard to bear. You may be on a course which will offer genuine help, and i hope it does. It manages my nerve pain well, although the numbness of peripheral neuroptahy has not diminished one whit, so I use a cane........ one good thing about this is folks will actually hold the door open for a cane toting guy. I had never experienced that when I was hurriedly ambulatory back before my wreck.

Thanks Rae and Mark56. :-) Yes, it seemed like things were moving along at a nice pace until after I had that evaluation. Then I got told that the psych doc and the pain doc had to have their bi monthly meeting to discuss cases. They said I would come up in the next one. They also told me "we will contact you". It is so frustrating sitting around with NO pain relief at all. I'm not even taking oral medications.

As for the puppy thing, I don't currently have puppies around. :-) I spent 10 years being a foster home for puppies being raised to be seeing eye dogs. It was s volunteer thing, but it winds up saving the potential blind masters $40,000. I'm taking a break from it right now because I have small children. :-)
