First EEG today.

I'm having my first EEG test done in a few hours. Wish me luck.

I'll let you all know how it went.

Praying for the best possible results for you!

Blessings...
Amy

According to the technician, she says she isn't a doctor or anything but she seen some things that were abnormal. What could this mean? What all does an EEG detect? :(

Mark in Idaho 12-06-2011 09:58 PM

First, the tech should have never said that. She was way out of line. Her only comments should have been about the quality of the waveforms. By this I mean, the waveforms were not cluttered up with errant abstract data. Errant abstract data can be caused by blinking, swallowing, moving, etc.

You need to wait for your doctor or a neurologist to read the EEG results. There are many abnormal things that can show up on an EEG that are considered inconclusive.

So, wait and see. Don't obsess about her ill-informed comments.

This neurologist that I'm seeing (or hardly ever seeing since he's only available once a month) said I won't be able to follow up on the results until the 25th! I was shocked...so shocked that I scheduled an appointment with a new neurologist on Tuesday. I called Dr. Dixit's office (my current neurologist) and told them to cancel that appointment and fax my results over to the new neurologist because I don't plan on seeing Dr. Dixit again. He was a quack anyways. The one time that I seen him, he rushed me in and out of his office in a flash. He gave no advice on how to deal with my symptoms, told me I was depressed and prescribed me some Prozac. He even told me I needed to get a job and start doing more things to get my mind off the symptoms.

Good riddance.

Sounds like Dr Dixit is Jewish. His office scheduled your appointment for the 25th, Christmas Day??? And on a Sunday no less.

Did you inquire to see if the new neurologist has much experience with concussions?

SpaceCadet 12-08-2011 01:05 AM

According to the receptionist I spoke with, he's dealt with patients that experienced post-concussion syndrome. That was the first question I asked when they picked up the phone. Then again, that's what the receptionist at Dr. Dixit's office said too. I'm crossing my fingers. I've been really stressed out and full of anxiety due to the lack of help I've been getting and the frequent trips to the ER due to this neurologist's lack of availability.

But,,,, Has he dealt with Post Concussion Syndrome successfully and to the patient's satisfaction?

We need to compile a list of doctors who have provided good support for their PCS patients. Maybe when pigs fly.

So I got a call from the office of Dr. Dixit. She's suggesting that I at least follow-up with their nurse practitioner on Monday to talk about the EEG and what they plan to do with me as far as treatment, before I make the decision to see the new neurologist. So I'm going to see how it goes on Monday, and if I'm still dissatisfied with the way they handle my condition I'll keep my appointment with the new neurologist on Tuesday.

Sounds like they don't want to lose me as a customer lol. Well, at least I get the results of my EEG sooner and find out if there is anything seriously wrong with me.

Funny how they magically have time all of the sudden, huh? Good luck!!!
