another dumb question

I've tried and I can't figure this out. How do I move a photo from another site to email or to post on a forum? It won't let me copy and paste so I moved it to a file and I can't do it from there either. If I right click on photo I've tried 'cut', 'copy'. etc. but when I try to put it where I want it the only options offered are 'undo, 'select all' (tried that). 'languages', and 'check spelling'.

My niece tried to it and she couldn't do it either, she thought it was my IP but that doesn't make any sense. I can post links and highlight and transfer quotes, how come no photos?

thanks, Zygo

If right click doesn't work...that means that copying pictures is blocked. What site is it?

If it is Flickr, you have to click on "actions" and then sizes, then it will let you right click.

My hubby has found some professional sites, like newspapers will not let you right click anymore.

You could do a Print screen action. I do this for the hummingbirds at Phoebe Allens.

Hit control + Printscreen-- on the F function row...next to F12
if you have a standard keyboard. Then it goes to clipboard internally, and you then open it in a graphic program.
Laptops vary in where "print screen" is...so type into your help function "print screen" to find it. Then once in your program, say the free PAINT in Microsoft accessories, or any other graphics program you can isolate the photo with a tool called crop and then save it that way. Open the graphics software, then go to file=open and click it and the page you copied should appear in the work box. A little more complex. I do that for streaming sites, like the live hummingbird cam.

There are free online programs that will give you a page save more easily...one is Evernote. I use that for invoices or saving pages easily for "reference" for some reason.

When you right click on a picture, I choose "save as" in the choices it brings up. I save it to my computer. For example, I have a file for cat pictures so I open that when the "save as" asks for where to put a cat photo.
Hubby just puts everything on the desktop, which irks me no end. Because when you are done with it, you have to remove it.
You could make a file called "saved photos internet". Also my PC has a download manager that opens...if you think you didn't save it correctly you can open download manage---mine stays open until I X it out in fact, and click it from there.

But many places with copyrighted things block right click.

So can you save the photo/image to your computer at all?
That is the first step.
I save mine to My Pictures folder in the MY Documents section -and then make new sub folders for various topics.
art, pets, etc.

To post them here on most forums you use the attach files blow the reply box there is a bar that you may have to click the little arrows to expand the frame called - Additional Options .
then go to the part that says-
[Attach Files
Valid file extensions: bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip
] and follow those directions.

or add it to your profile album and then link or copy the code to place the image in a post.

Well that was interesting, I think I may have been doing it correctly at some point but it still didn't work. I ended up with it plastered all over my screen as wall paper, fixed that but lost the pic in recycle bin trying to figure it out. lol

Maybe the problem is that my sis gave me the computer and we never changed users because she wasn't sure if I'd get updates and we were too chicken to have multiple users. I had the pic 'someplace', clicked properties and it said it was copyrighted and she was the owner. It won't let me copy it because the file is in her name?

Hope I can find it again, I had it sized and everything.

JoMar, I just saw your post, trying to figure it out. At least I got it back out of the recycle bin...

I don't know if this is going to work, my file is the wrong size.

Woo Hoo, hope Mrs D finds it. Thanks for the practice, now I'm going to see if I can send my sis insulting political cartoons.

LOL looks like you solved it.

I had this on my siggie last week in fact!

without the printing on it. It reminded me of our many past black cats, and now Weezie! ;)
