B12 blood test
I am B12 deficient. diagnosed in May. In Nov. my numbers were up to 505. I have started taking 5000 mcg of methyl B12 in dissolving tablets in hopes of absorbing more.
My question is, when I go to have my numbers checked again, should I not take the supplement prior to being tested? I worry that I may get a false number. If so, how long should I stop taking them prior to getting the test done? Thanks! Stephanie |
I would stop at least 5 days before testing.
The oral version is not highly absorbed, like an injection. But it could skew results. If you have been using this for a while (at least 2 or 3 months) and taking on an empty stomach you should see results. Mine was 1999 (highest reading on those machines) from an average level around 800 before. I tested out Puritan's methylcobalamin, and it was a success. |
