MRI findings

These are the findings of an MRI lumber spine with and without IV contrast

Clumping of the nerve roots is seen extending from the upperL3 through sacral levels consistent with arachnoditis. A hyperintense T1 and hypointense T2 signal is seen incorporated within the nerve roots extending from the lower L4 through the upper S2 levels. this is not effected on the fat saturation sequence and most likely represents a hematoma. Schmoral nodes are noted involving the T11 through L1 vertebral body region.

In terms of pain and symptoms -what can we expect from these findings?

Unfortunately, Arachnoiditis is a painful, INCURABLE ailment! Pain management is almost always a must! Oral medications can help alot, and some people have had the morphine pump implanted, so the nerves are bathed in medications -- it does NOT make you "loopy" or feeling drugged.

I'm sorry you have this painful condition. If you aren't already seeing a pain management doctor, please get a referral to one! I wish you the very best. God bless & take care. Hugs, Lee
