Vascular TOS???
Okay, so over the last week or so I have noticed that my hand turns blue, particularly when I am having a bad pain day. What I am wondering is, should I let my doctor know about this change? I go back to see him on Jan 12th and I haven't been diagnosed with TOS, but with all my symptoms and the info I am finding on the web, it seems more and more like I have this dx. I take BC powders all the time, so I can't imagine how I could have a clot. The color change is noticeable, my 14 year old son commented on it last night asking what is wrong with your hand? I can call my regular dr or wait until the 12th to mention it to the neurologist.
Just out of curiosity, what is the most comfortable position for everyone. I notice when I am up walking around or sitting up straight the pain seems to be worse. It is better for me when I am in my recliner. Thanks for your help. |
Talk to your doctor about it
Hi Tara,
I would definitely mention it to your doctor when you go in, as this could easily be a sign of TOS. This used to happen to me frequently, sometimes worse than others. It may not be something that they would treat at this point as there are few conservative options for TOS but they may send you for physical therapy to try to improve the issue. If they do diagnose you with TOS and recommend PT, make sure to ask for a recommendation for a physical therapist. TOS is fairly rare and although physical therapists should know what it is, you want someone with experience actually treating TOS. Good luck! Sarah |
You should always notify your doctor of a significant change in symptoms. Hands turning blue seems to qualify, if it hasn't happened before. What is BC powders?

BC powder must be a southern thing. Basically, they are powered nsaid. They taste really bad, so most people mix them with something to drink. BC's contain naproxen so I would think that would prevent clots.
Thanks for your help everyone. |
