Christmas cookies

It is the tradition in my family to bake tons of cookies for the holidays. The last thing I need is cookies but I love to bake and my DH loves to eat. So, it was cookie time this week end.

I am also a huge fan of cooking magazines. I tear out recipes as I read them and then, when I get around to it, I make the recipe. I found a peanut butter cookie recipe somewhere that I made this year.

OH MY GOD! They are the absolute best cookies I have ever eaten. I could eat the whole batch without batting an eye if I let myself. I also tried a chocolate cherry recipe I found in a mystery novel about a baker who solved mysteries. It was pretty darn good too.

Does anyone else have any cookies they love?

My favorite christmas cookie are the cressant powdered sugar melt in your mouth, Lebaneze cookies.

I'm going to do a double batch of DDs favorite Forgotten cookies, then a batch of mint chocolate, choco chip merangues for me

I love anything somebody else makes! :p

I join Kelly on this one. :p

I love snowballs (a.k.a. Russian Tea Cakes, Mexican Wedding Cakes, etc.). They are my favorite. Second would be Spritz cookies. Oh yummy!

Well I can't seem to pick a favorite.

For Christmas I make goodie baskets and give them out to some of our friends, family and my husbands co-workers. We had 70 people by the time you count each person in each family!

For the goodie baskets we make:

Peanut butter balls
Chocolate covered cherries
Peanut butter reindeer cookies
Old fashioned soft pumpkin cookies
Oatmeal scotchies and
Cinnamon candy cane cookies

My Mom helped me make all of them this year because a friend was going to so we decided to make more. Then she got sick for two weeks. I have to say though, all the goodies turned out great.

My niece makes all the Christmas cookies. She makes chocolate chip, sugar, oatmeal, divinity. My daughter makes Buckeyes. My all time favorite cookie to make though is Monster cookies. It is a monstrous recipe so I don't make it very often.

Back in the old days (pre-MS), I used to take at least one whole day, turn down the thermostat, turn up the music and let 'er rip...Cookie Day! I used to mail them to my brother and parents, cart them to the neighbors, fill all the canisters.

The favorites were the raspberry-filled butter cookies, and what we call "yoyos", a thin mint melted between two chocolate cookies. Then pecan pie bars, kissies (the peanut butter cookies with a Hershey kiss), peanut butter swirl bars, cream cheese squares, and last but not least, spritz cookies.

I have my grandmother's cookie press. Mom used to make hundreds of spritz cookies, especially the ones with a half maraschino cherry in the center. She said those were the cookies that caught my father back in 1945. :D

I absolutely am addicted to my homemade fudge. I feel sick afterwards, but it's worth it;):p

Oh yummy! I can definitely see how your Mom won you Dad's heart with those cookies. My Mom makes these every year and she makes a ton of them as they are everyone's favorite. The snowballs are too and she makes lots of those.
