Is that a symptom of eye stroke?
 

On the 24th of December, I was minding my own business (a little stress and tired) playing with my daughter and suddenly I noticed there was this pressure (non painful) on my right eye and then flashing light (pulsing flashling light- like when someone turns a flashlight on and off on my right peripheral vision). My eye started to feel a bit numb. I got dizzy. It lasted for just a couple of minutes but really scary.

Could this be an eye stroke, or TMJ related?

I had history of ocular migraine, but this was nothing like an ocular migraine, because I actually felt pressure and my eye was a little bit numb. Now my vision is fine and my eye isn't numb./

I would definitely see an ophthalmologist about this. Don't go to an optometrist -- they aren't M.D.'s. I was an optician for many years, and I've never heard of an "eye stoke." :confused:

I had a stroke (a blood clot) in the right branch vein in my left eye.

It created a hemorrhage into the retina, which in daylight was a purple shadow, and at night was an actual hole in my night vision.

I also had an aching pain with it. This happened at a work situation that lasted 8hrs of intense stress and elevated blood pressure.

I had to have angiograms in both eyes, which after the fact showed normal blood flow returning to that eye. It took about 6 months for it to recover, and now I am normal again.

This should be seen by an ophthalmologist ASAP. Another possibility is a retinal detachment, or inflammation of the eye called uveitis:

The blood vessels in the eye, can be affected by homocysteine levels that are too high. Checking B12 levels would be a good idea and if you are low, taking a supplement to boost them would possibly prevent further issues. If you have autoimmune disease like a friend of ours, the uveitis will be ongoing, and require treatment.

Any unusual eye symptoms should be checked immediately. I hope you have made an appt.

I have had 2 occurrences of amaurosis fugax, or temporary eye strokes. However both of mine included either full or partial loss of vision. The first time, vision in my right eye suddenly went completely black. The second time (6 months later) the upper half of my vision was black in the left eye.

ALL sudden changes in vision should be checked...even if they are temporary. They might indicate a bigger problem yet to come.

Thank you everyone for your input. I am scheduled to see an ophthalmologist today in the afternoon and will update everyone on what they find out. I also have a neuro appointment on January 5th.

Well I saw the ophthalmologist yesterday. He said my eyes are healthy. But wants to follow up in a month and wants to know what my neuro says (which I see on January 5th). In the meantime, he wants me to take a baby aspirin a day.

Not sure what to make of this.

Vessel blockages tend to be temporary and hard to pin down.

The baby aspirin a day thing, is insurance to prevent a clot.

I only had the one blood clot, and it never repeated. It took 6mos for my vision to return to normal, but it did.

If you look up on Wiki the term en bloc gave here, there are many more details. It can get pretty complicated. Mine was a real clot-- it backed up the venous blood and that spilled into the retina... the doctor saw it when I went in. The few days later when the angiogram was done, it was mostly dissolved away already, but it took months for the blood to be cleared away, and as long as it was there, I had a large hole in my night vision (about 1/2 of the whole field.)
