Fell asleep walking across the bedroom

Last night I fell asleep in my recliner ( not uncommon for me). I did not wake up until about 6:00 AM. My wife was up eating breakfast. I talked to her briefly and headed to my/our bed for a few hours of sleep in a proper position. The bed was very cold and as i was trying to get warm, the cold sensation seemed to be waking me up. I decided to get up and have breakfast and take a nap after.

As I was walking across the dark room, I remember stumbling as if in a dream. I woke up face down on the floor. My wife heard the thud and came to check it out as I was waking up and getting up.

I did not get hurt as I think it was a gentle collapse to the floor. I feel fine as I sit here at my computer after finishing my breakfast.

Wow, that was sure a strange experience. I am not one to use NT as a blog but thought this experience was worth a note.

My best to you all.

p.s. I just noticed my messed up heading. Can't edit headings. Oh well.

Do you want me to correct your title, Mark?

It would be no problem.

Yes,

Maybe that was a brain fart. I have been having them all day. My nurse advise line wants me to go get checked out.

Thanks

Very strange, Mark. I bet that was a rude awakening! I hope it didn't cause any further damage to your brain. I haven't experienced anything like that yet and I hope I don't have to. Let us all know what happens when they check you out :)...

Yes, please do get checked out.

Possibilities include, low blood pressure (orthostatic hypotension) can happen to anyone, but also can be a result of some medications like SSRIs, or blood pressure meds.

Secondly, the timing of this event, could be a low blood sugar cause, so do get that checked as well.

I fixed your title BTW. I hope you feel better.

While I wait for my wife to get home, thought I post.

I have occasional orthostatic hypotension when I get up from sitting or laying down. This did not feel at all like that.

I also have reactive hypoglycemia. It takes quite a fast to cause straight hypoglycemia. Otherwise, the hypoglycemia only results from the swing from a sugar rush.

This was like I was dreaming. Then I found myself on the floor. Now, I have a head ache right between my eyes.

Wife just got home. Off to the ER. No urgent care clinic will take me because they do not refer to CT imaging if needed. I dread the higher co-pay of an ER visit.

My best to you.

Well, after hours of waiting and getting poked and prodded, The best they can guess is possibly a vaso-vagus nerve reaction. My heart is fine. My blood pressure is fine sitting, standing, and laying down. My blood labs are good.

We'll never know.

Maybe they will lose the co-pay bill. One can always hope.

Just glad you are ok!

I'm glad you are okay! That sounds odd and scary!
