Pain clinic

Well, today is my last day of a 6 week stint at the Canmore pain clinic in Canmore, Alberta. So glad to be able to go home, 6 weeks in a motel room can sure take it's toll on a person both mentally, and physically. I found that the clinic was a great help, in more then one way. The staff were well experienced in dealing with people who have crps, and knew better than to push to far during physio. The biggest benefit that I noticed was simply being around other people with crps for the first time, and sharing what worked and didn't work for crps with eachother. I didn't really improve much since I've been there, but I learned ALOT about crps and pain, and the different strategies to cope with the pain. Overall I feel like it was a good experience, and even though I am happy to leave, I think I would've liked to stay there awhile longer. I gained some friends, and have even learned of a few doctors that aren't too far from my home that are better experienced in dealing with crps then my current doctors. When I get home I am going to be very busy trying to find treatments that I have yet to try through these new doctors.

I'm glad to hear that you had a good experience there (though sad to hear that it didn't help more with the pain). It's good that you were able to take away some good things from the experience...any tools we can add to our list of things that can improve our quality of life (such as coping skills) are definitely a good thing. I feel that it is through communication with others that have this condition that we can learn the most about such things. Doctors can help us with treatments, medications, and recommendations for improving our health...but those little day to day things are not things that the doctors (generally speaking) can really help us with because they don't have that personal experience of dealing with this moster every minute of every day. I hope you are able to find a new doctor who can help you find the right treatments to improve your situation further.
