Celexa and Lexapro side effects
 

Hi There,

I was wondering if any of you have tried Celexa? I've been having some (possible?) side effects, but so many things are listed for all of them, it's hard to tell what's what. The doc started me on 10mg for the first week. It was increased to 20mg this past week. I hate to go off it, because I'm feeling better in some ways. Since going on the 20mg I'm having is increased tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and also headaches. The ringing was there before getting on the Celexa, but now it's much worse.

I was thinking of switching to Lexapro. From what I've read there's less side effects with it. Have any of you gone off one of of these two meds and tried the other?
Anybody ever take Lamictal? Any problems with it? I know everyone reacts differently to meds, but am interested to find out what you've experienced with these.

SUZEQ,wellcome to neuro-talk.i know of an incredible place for basic laymans knowledge of all psyche meds.and not from some doc,but someone who's not only knowledgable,but has first hand experience w/most meds.[not necessarily what you were looking for perhaps],give them a shot when you have a chance. every time ive been unsure about a med im either taking or going to take,they give me just what i need to understand.sincerely,kennyjack

there is not alot of moderation there (or care to control content/accuracy). Some people find it fun to
be extreme or mislead others(trolls)--on the net.

In general Celexa is milder than Lexapro.

I have seen people who cannot tolerate most SSRIs, but they do like
Celexa. Also in long term care for the elderly, it is given in low doses commonly since it is "mild" in effect. I haven't heard many complaints about side effects.

Lexapro is a chemical manipulation of Celexa.

Thanks. It's interesting to hear the comment about the elderly taking a small dosage. Sometimes I think the full therapeutic dose is too strong for a lot of people. I lowered the Celexa to 10mg, and let the doc know yesterday. No headache today for the first time in days and I managed to sleep 6 hours last nite! Hopefully it's not just coincidence. Other than that and the tinnitus, I don't have many side effects. At first it made me drowsy, shaky and kind of stoned, but that passed after the first week. When the dose was raised, all hell broke loose. Hopefully it will be strong enough at the reduced dose.
