Sinusitis and cognitive problems.

Does anyone know if "acute" Sinusitis can cause cognitive or neurological problems? I was told by a family member [and someone from the psych office] that some of the cognitive and neurological problems I've been having might not be from PCS and could be as a result from having Sinusitis. If so, what kind of problems could it cause?

Wondering if anyone could shed some light on the subject.

Your sinuses are very close to your brain. If you get a severe infection or chronic infections, that can cause a lot of serious problems -- including even depression. A good ENT (ear, nose, throat) should be able to explain it better and if you have a lot of infections I would encourage you to treat the condition seriously and see a specialist.

Gillian - thanks for your response. I'm just trying to get to the bottom of things and want to eliminate all other possible causes.

I plan on getting an ENT soon, but I've got other appointments coming up that I want to get out of the way. I don't want to be overwhelmed.

Thanks again :).
