Questions about post chiari surgery

My 16 year old daughter has surgery for Chiari on Dec. 12, 2011 which was about five weeks ago. Recovery has been pretty normal up to this point: a lot of pain and needing a lot of rest. However, a week ago, she became very weak, turned pale, and developed major had tremors. The neurosurgeon said this had nothing to do with the Chiari surgery and for us to see her pediatrician. He did some blood work, and it was all normal. Both doctors told us that they did not know what was going on. A week later, she still has the tremors, sometimes she is unable to hold anything in her hands. She has become more weak, dizzy (especially when she stands or bends over), and has more headaches. I was wondering if this is common after surgery. I am so confused and worried about my daughter. I thought talking to someone who has been through this surgery would help.

I'm 23, and I had my Chiari surgery on December 1, 2011. I had a very similar experience post-op. At around the 5 week mark I felt extremely weak and tired all the time, i was shaking alot and could barely hold a glass of water without dropping it. The feelings had passed after a while of feeling that way. But for me I ended up having a swelling problem come directly after that time. unless told otherwise from your daughter's doctors I dont think you have anything to worry about. just make sure that she eats well and try to lift her spirits - ive been having some depression since the surgery and most of the time mental status has a huge effect on how you heal.
